Blagoy D. Ivanov

Blagoy D. Ivanov holds a masters degree in film criticism from the Bulgarian National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts. His MA dissertation on the subject of ‘The cinema of the reanimated dead’ shocked and unsettled the spirits of a multitude of academics, and eventually changed their views on necromancy.

Blagoy’s professional activity is focused in the field of advertising and media (radio, television, press, and the internet). His ‘debut’ was in 1997 when he won the first prize in the Vurkolak magazine’s national literary contest. Blagoy is widely published – he has contributed short stories, film reviews, articles, translated material, interviews and even poetry to various newspapers, magazines and anthologies: Edno, Capital Light, Sega, Maxim, Insight, Krug, Sedmichen Trud, Egoist, Media Sviat, AZ, Vizia, Demokracia, Kultura, Pari and Ego among others.
Blagoy was a member of the jury at the annual student film festival in Munich in 2001. He has also worked as an editor for newspapers and magazines, and as a reporter and scriptwriter for TV channels MSAT and Nova TV. Currently, he sails the rough corporative seas of advertising – he works as a copywriter.

Apart from cinema, Blagoy’s interests and hobbies are radically diverse – he is interested in palaeontology, pop-culture and future ex-girlfriends.
