Miryana Dimitrova – dramaturg


After completing her undergraduate degree in Theatre studies with Philosophy (Roehampton University, London), Miryana joined the MA Advanced theatre practice course at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama (graduated in 2006). During the year at CSSD she took part in various devised projects, both as a dramaturg and a writer; one of these – Furies, a show incorporating puppets and actors, was performed in June 2006 at Baron’s Court Theatre (London), as part of CSSD’s festival of new work. Furies also participated in the International Puppet Schools festival in Byalistok, Poland.

In her home country Bulgaria, Miryana has published articles in various Bulgarian magazines on topics such as film reviews, mythology and literature. She was co-author and scriptwriter of video clip feature Creature (mythological creatures in pop-culture and art - 9 issues, duration 6 to 10 min each), broadcasted as part of the weekly TV show Myst on Bulgarian TV channel BBT. Most recently, she worked as an assistant to the screenwriter of the Bulgarian version of the TV reality show Temptation Island.
Currently, Miryana oscillates between Sofia and London – she is researching the epic genre as PhD student at Royal Holloway, University of London, and simultaneously working on a future projects in Sofia as a co-founder/director of art company “Dramaexport”.

Miryana loves history and mythology, listens to Rammstein as well as Rachmaninov, and occasionally practices stage combat at the Shakespeare’s globe theatre exhibition, London.
